Welcome to the Palmerston North Macintosh Users' Group, established in 1988. Palmerston North is a city in the lower Central region of the North Island of New Zealand.

To enquire about our club, please click “Contact Us” above.

We are a community based club for anyone interested in Apple technology - iPods, iPads, iPhones, and Macintosh computers. We cater for all ages and experience levels.

Meetings are held from 7:30pm - 10:00pm on the second calendar Thursday of every month except January.

We provide supper and there is no door charge.

Meetings are aimed at the general user, you do not need to be an expert to attend! We have a Questions/News session at the beginning of the evening. There is no question too dumb!

Bring your own iDevices and Apple computers to the meeting if you wish - if you want to talk about something, sometimes it is easier to just show us!

Annual membership fees are $20 single or family.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Avoid these common threats to your Mac’s wellbeing

___________________________________________

WARNING 1: AVOID GENIEO.

DO NOT ALLOW IT TO INSTALL!

This browser plugin is actually a scammy adware package that will intercept your google searches and replace results with their own. It will arrive in your downloads folder uninvited, usually because it has masqueraded as something else that you wanted to download - it’s not a virus per se, but this trojan horse method of sneaking itself into people’s computers is an indication of how nasty it is. It is hard to remove, DO NOT USE THEIR OWN UNINSTALLER - SEEK HELP.

WARNING 2: AVOID MACKEEPER.

The choice of Google Adverts appearing below are beyond the control of PNMUG.

One Ad you will see often, is MacKeeper

(“Speed up your Mac” etc )

PNMUG ADVICE TO OUR MAC USERS:

*** DO NOT INSTALL MACKEEPER ***

CALL FOR HELP IF YOU HAVE DONE SO

Why? Google it, also see Apple Forums;

It’s more trouble than it’s worth
